Shoes

Megan has recently developed a love of shoes. She insists on wearing them ALL the time, even over her footed jammies. If there is a shoe insight, she'll bring it to me and grunt at me to put it on her. She does the same for me, brings me my shoes and insists that I put it on, even if I'm already wearing a pair. She also likes to try on my shoes, and Eric's too. It's hilarious to see her get her tiny feet in Eric's flip-flops with her toes in the right spot and then not be able to move because they are huge and too heavy for her to lift. Just a few months ago, she hated wearing shoes and would try to kick them off. It wasn't until she fit into a pair of Pedi-Peds that my friend, Jessica, gave to us when she was born that she started to develop her shoe fetish. I can't blame her, they are very cute and comfortable. We have since had to get 2 more pairs. I'd really like to put the blame on Jessica for giving us the shoes to begin with, but I have a feeling that Megan's love of shoes is genetic, as I have a closet full of them. I can tell this is only the beginning of an expensive habit for both me and Megan because, after all, who can resist a cute shoe?!

I Heart Camp Shalom!

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Girls Camp for all 5 days this last week. Although I sometimes complain about going because I'm not much of a camper or "outdoorsie" kind of girl, I really love going to girls camp. It's fun to be with the girls and help their testimonies grow. I was in the cabin with most of the 1st year girls and it was a blast. Some haven't even turned 12 yet and I'm going to miss then until they do. I'm coming up on finishing my third year as second counselor in our YW presidency and it makes me sad to think that there's a chance I might be released before next year's camp. The girls in our ward are awesome and I feel very lucky to be their leader!

The last few weeks...

A couple weeks ago, my friend was brave and let me take some family pictures for her. It was my first attempt and so we went to the same place that we had ours taken. We had to wait in the car for about 20 minutes for the rain to stop, but I think it was worth the wait and they turned out pretty well. I was really nervous about doing it and took over 300 pictures. About 50 of them turned out ok, so not too bad for my first attempt. I have since rented a few books about portrait photography to help me out some more. Practice makes perfect though. These are a few that I really liked.

Last Saturday we decided that we wanted to do something "fun" as a family. Since it wasn't very warm we didn't want to do anything outside, so we went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy with our friends, the Skinrood's. If you live in Utah, or ever visit here, DON'T go. It was a total waste of money. Megan was just interested in running around like a mad woman and there weren't very many fish. The only redeeming display was the pool with the bat rays that you could touch. I have to admit that I am a little spoiled when it comes to aquariums growing up in the Bay Area with the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, but this one really was pathetic. I'm pretty sure that you could get the same effect going to Cabella's and bonus...it's free there. I did have to take a few pictures though. So you can look at these and save yourself a trip.

Eric's parents were in town this last weekend as well. They stayed with us on Sunday and Monday. Megan had a great time playing with Grandma and Grandpa.
