Dane was blessed at our house in Sunday. We had planned to bless him that day since before he was born, but ran into a little problem. The Oqquirh Mountain Temple dedication was scheduled for that day and so the Church had canceled regular meetings for the whole state that day so members could watch the dedication. Eric's parents had already purchased their plane tickets and my dad and stepmom were already going to be out here that weekend for my stepbrother's wedding. Fortunately our bishopric lets us bless babies when we want and not just on Fast Sunday, so were able to bless Dane on the August 23. It was a little crazy trying to jam 40 people into my family room to hear the blessing, but it worked out. We had a little luncheon afterward. It was really nice to have both sets of parents there as well as all Eric's siblings (and families) that live in Utah and my brother and sister from California. Eric gave a beautiful blessing which I recorded on his cell phone and now need to go back and write it down. Of course Megan woke up with a cold that morning and now I think Dane is getting it. I'm sure this is just the first of many illnesses that they will pass back and forth. The weekend was a little hectic with the wedding and blessing back to back, but being able to spend it with family made up for it. I hadn't seen my brother since Christmas and I'm not sure when I'll get to see him or my sister again. Hopefully sooner rather than later!
