The Joys of Home-ownership

After the snow FINALLY melted about a month ago, we found at least 2 dozen shingles all over our yard from the crazy winter we had here in Utah. We came to the sad realization that it was time to replace the roof. There went our entire tax return! It's really a shame since I would have much rather spent the money on something fun, like new granite counter-tops for my kitchen. So, as I'm typing this there are men on my roof making more noise than I ever thought possible. It's Megan's nap time, of course, and I think she might have been asleep at some point, but I can hear her singing in her crib. I thought about setting up the port-a-crib in the basement, but it was just as loud down there. I'm pretty sure that Megan's not going to fall back asleep. Also, I went to turn on the TV while I ate my very late lunch and the DISH isn't working. Probably a by-product of the "roofing" that's going on. I use quotation marks around roofing because it sounds more like a herd of elephants having a dance party up there than anything else. I hope this doesn't take more than a week, because I don't know how long my sanity will last with a nap-less Megan in my care.

Big Trouble with Her Boyfriend!

Our friends, Jason and Lindy, have a very adorable 2 1/2 year old, David, to whom we refer to as "Megan's boyfriend". Jason and Eric had a man-date to go to Priesthood Session with each other, so Megan and I went over to hang out with Lindy, David, and their 4 month old, Emily. While Lindy and I were in the other room, Megan and David got into big trouble. David had somehow taken the formula can off the counter and spilled it all over the kitchen floor. David thought it was fun to drive his cars through it and Megan was content to play with the empty can. Of course it was a full can of formula. Both kids were covered from head to toe in formula and it was all caked on the bottom of Megan's socks. All we could do was laugh when we saw them, and grab our cameras of course! David's sneakiness and messes are almost always the subject of Lindy's blog, so we should have known better than to leave the two alone together, especially when it got quiet. It's a great story, though (maybe we'll be able to tell it at their wedding - hahaha) and a great picture as well!

My shadow and her "lovey"

When Megan started to crawl we bought this huge baby gate that kept her in our family room. Over the last month or so, she's really started to hate the gate. She'll cry hysterically when we close it, even if I'm inside of it with her. The girl really likes her freedom. So, for the last few weeks, we've been leaving the gate open, especially since she's mastered going down the stairs. We finally took the gate down on Saturday since it wasn't really serving it's purpose anymore. Megan is really loving this new found freedom and I now have a little shadow following me around EVERYWHERE. It's funny how all her toys are in the family room, but she'd rather roam around the house. If I'm headed up the stairs, it's not long before I hear her little feet hurrying after me. I'm now constantly shutting bathroom doors since she's already managed to find and play in the toilet. Sick, sicky!

I have always had a blanket and a stuffed animal in Megan's crib with her when she sleeps, but she's never really had an attachment to either of them, until this last week. We have a few of the Ty Pluffies which are stuffed animals made out of super soft fabric and they can go in the washer. Our nephew had a few and Eric went out and bought some for Megan even before she was born. He's a big animal lover and hopes to instill that into our children. It looks like it's starting to work as Megan has really taken to her hippo, Tubby. She carries it around the house with her and has needed to take it on our errands and outings lately. She gets so excited about him and gives him hugs. It's too precious. Here are a few pic's of Megan with her "lovey".

Somehow I have some misc. props from road show still at my house. I found Megan playing with this one this morning: I think we have a new Jedi princess in training!

I need renters!

Know any girls who are looking for a great place to live for Spring/Summer in Provo?! Shameless plug, I know, but Eric and I help manage his parent's BYU approved condo in Provo. We are looking for 3 girls to rent to for Spring/Summer term. Eric's sister lives there (she's graduated and working full-time), but the other 3 girls are leaving for the summer. The condo is 2 blocks south of campus and we are renting it for $200 a month with a $200 deposit. As you can see from the pictures, it's a really nice place, nicer than anywhere I lived while at BYU. All the appliances were replaced in 2006 and are in really good condition. There's underground parking and wireless internet. We try really hard to keep it nice and clean. I'm not going to post the address here for obvious security reasons, but anyone knows any girls who are looking for a fun place to spend their summer in Provo, have them email at: jenjorgensen220@gmail.com and I can give them more details.

Sick Again?!

Our friends, who used to live next door to us and have now moved a whopping 10 minutes away, invited us over for dinner last Sunday since our schedules never match up on the weekend to go out together. I'm afraid they might not invite us back after Megan threw up onto Eric's plate during dinner. She woke up from her nap whiny and a little warm, but she does that occasionally and I didn't think anything of it. She was so sad and crying a lot and sat on my lap and barely moved through ALL of 101 Dalmatians. She didn't sleep very well at all that night and I felt like I had a newborn again, getting up every few hours. I took her to the doctor on Monday and she had an ear infection. No big deal, right, just get some antibiotics and she'll be as good as new in a few days. She was getting better and we even ventured to Ikea yesterday with her cousin Ava and my sister-in-law Jenny. It was a little crazy with the two girls, most of the craziness coming from mine, of course. Megan took a really good nap that morning and afternoon, but threw up shortly after her afternoon nap and then again this morning while Eric was feeding her breakfast. I really hate it when she's sick because it always seems so random and out of the blue. No warning signs either. We're suppose to have family pictures taken today and I'm not sure whether to cancel or not. She acts fine up until right before she gets sick and with no fever or other sickness, I'm just not sure what to do. This is the second time we've had to reschedule and I feel like we're never going to get them done. AGH!
